I was very fortunate to work for Roger during his tenure as Dean of Faculty of Engineering at the University of Leeds. Words fail me and I cannot begin to describe the feeling of loss within our institution. With so much left to offer, I feel personally aggrieved that he has been taken from us in such cruel fashion and share the sense of tremendous loss felt by many others. There is some solace to be found in his many achievements and enduring legacy to the world of engineering. I hope in time our collective grief may diminish and we can celebrate his life and outstanding contribution.
Roger, I would like to thank you for the belief, encouragement and support you gave me, I will always remember you as a scholar and a gentleman. May you rest in eternal peace.
