UK procurement
Since coming into power in 2010, the Coalition has taken an active role in reforming how government procures products and services. In order to support this work The Royal Academy of Engineering has held roundtables and sector specific workshops with the Academy’s Fellowship, government departments, industry representatives and academia. The report on the outcome of these proceedings focuses on the recommendations made by the advisory group and gives reference to changing behavioural motivators in procurement and how government procurement can become a stimulus for innovation and economic growth.
The study is based on a series of roundtable meetings. Following two general meetings on procurement principles, the next stage of the project will involve sector specific discussions on how to improve procurement in the three fields of ICT, Infrastructure and Health.
The project is due to be complete by the end of autumn 2013.
