Frequently Asked Questions
Changes to Secondment
Q6. I received an industrial secondment
award but there is a problem with my start date. Can I start
my secondment next year instead?
A6. All secondments must start within 12 months from the
date of award. The start date should be declared at
application stage. If the secondment does not take
place, within 12 months of the date of the award,
the secondee’s employer must send The Academy a
written report of the reasons for the delay as soon
as practicable (and not later than one month after
the expiry of such 12 month period) and, if
reasonably ascertainable, the proposed date of
commencement.
Q7. What happens if the secondment does not
take place after the award is made, or if I have to leave my secondment early?
A7. The Academy may withhold and/or demand repayment of
all or any part of the award, at its absolute discretion, if the secondment is
not started within 12 months of the date of the award or if the secondee fails
to complete the secondment on time or within an agreed with The Academy period.
Please see clauses 4.5 and 5.2 of the Agreement.
Q8. Will the award be transferable if I win the award
but am unable to take it due to circumstances that can not be helped?
A8. The funds awarded by The Academy for each Secondee are not transferable and are given to The Employer in respect of
the named Secondee and the named Host for the agreed period.
Q9. Can I extend my secondment?
A9. The Academy’s written approval must be
sought for any extension to the duration of the secondment, irrespective
of whether or not additional funding is sought.
