Schemes for University Lecturers

ExxonMobil Engineering Teaching Fellowships
These Fellowships
are designed to encourage able young
lecturers in chemical, petroleum or
mechanical engineering to stay in the
education sector in the early years of
their career. Up to six awards are made
each year, worth £9000 over four years.
Applicants should have been in their
current post for at least one year and
be teaching on accredited undergraduate
engineering courses in the UK or Irish
Republic.

Industrial Secondments
The secondments
enable engineering lecturers to spend
between three and six months, preferably
on a full-time basis, in an industrial
organisation gaining experience that
will benefit their teaching. The awards
pay their institution up to 100% of the
cost of finding a replacement to cover
the secondee's teaching duties.

International Travel Grants
Grants are
provided to help engineering researchers
in the UK make study visits overseas,
particularly to attend conferences.
Grants of up to 50% of approved costs
may be awarded for visits of up to two
months. The scheme is open to UK
nationals and permanent residents of any
age who are postgraduate students,
postdoctoral researchers, lecturers
involved in research, and chartered
engineers in both academia and industry.
