Schemes for Engineers in Research and Development

Leverhulme Trust Senior Research Fellowships Scheme

The current round is now closed and the text below is for information purposes only. The next call will be announced in September 2013.

These Senior Research Fellowships provide a prized opportunity for mid-career academics at UK universities to be relieved of their administrative and teaching responsibilities for between an academic term and one year. This enables the Fellowship holder to concentrate on full-time research activities and rejuvenate their research career.

The Fellowship covers the cost of a replacement academic, who is expected to be appointed at the junior lecturer level. This provides the junior academic with a valuable opportunity to gain teaching and management experience. It is expected that the junior academic will relieve the Fellow of all teaching and administrative duties for the whole of the Fellowship term.

A support fund of up to £2,500 is also available for miscellaneous research costs incurred by the Fellow, such as travel and conference attendance.
