Schemes for Engineers in Research and Development
Leverhulme Trust Senior Research Fellowships Scheme
The Call for applications in the
2010 round is now open.
Please note the earlier deadline
for applications this year is 5pm on Friday 10
September 2010.
These Senior Research
Fellowships provide a prized opportunity for
mid-career academics at UK universities to be
relieved of their administrative and teaching
responsibilities for between an academic term and
one year. This enables the Fellowship holder to
concentrate on full-time research activities, which
can be within any engineering discipline.
The Fellowship covers the cost
of a replacement academic who is expected to be
appointed at the junior lecturer level. This
provides the junior academic with a valuable
opportunity to gain teaching and management
experience. It is expected that the junior academic
will relieve the Fellow of all teaching and
administrative duties for the whole of the
Fellowship term.
A support fund of up to £2,500
is also available for miscellaneous research costs
as part of the Fellowship.
If you work in a 'Research Grants Office' or
equivalent, and aid your colleagues in applying to
such schemes, please email research info
to be added to our mailing list, enabling us to
update you directly when new Calls are announced
and/or core scheme rules changed.
