Schemes for Engineers in Research and Development

Distinguished Visiting Fellowship Scheme

Monitoring

Within one month of the completion of a Visiting Fellowship the host institution and the Fellow are required to submit an End of Visit report of around 1000 to 1500 words to the Royal Academy of Engineering describing how the opportunity provided by the Fellowship was used, along with a completed Third Party Income form (below) which should detail information on other sources of funding towards the visit (if any). The report should follow the reporting guidelines, which will be provided by the scheme manager, and include a written statement of expenditure.

An initial payment of 90% of the funding awarded will have been made prior to the visit; the amount outstanding is retained subject to receipt of a satisfactory End of Visit report.

It is also a requirement of the Scheme that brief (normally one to two A4 pages-long) Year-End reports on any activities resulting from the visit are submitted by the host institution to The Academy one year after the completion of the visit.

The reports are sent to Academy Fellows in the scheme’s Steering Group for evaluation, and serve as a measure of the success of the scheme.
