Schemes for Engineers in Research and Development
Distinguished Visiting Fellowship Scheme
Funding
The maximum which could be awarded for each Fellow is £6000.
Funding for each approved
Distinguished Visiting Fellow can be used for:
-
the cost of one scheduled
airline return fare (economy class) between the airports nearest
to the Fellow’s home and the host institution.
-
the cost of accommodation
(including meals) at or near the host
institution.
-
a daily allowance to cover
incidental expenses, including UK travel.
An
accompanying spouse will be permitted, if so
desired, but at no additional cost to the scheme.
The host institution is
required to provide a list of anticipated costs,
with justification, at application stage.
If an application is successful, an initial payment of
90% of the approved costs will be made to the host
institution on invoice and after an Agreement detailing the terms and conditions of the award has been signed by all parties.
The remaining amount will be paid on invoice
to the host institution after the visit, subject to
a satisfactory End of Visit report, which will follow the reporting guidelines in the scheme Agreement (also available
from the scheme manager), and which will also include a written statement of
expenditure and will be accompanied by a Third Party Income form (please see the link to ‘Monitoring’
on the right hand side of the page for more details). Any underspend in the amount paid to the host
institution will be refunded to the Academy.
