Schemes for Engineers in Research and Development

Distinguished Visiting Fellowship Scheme

How to apply

Applications for Distinguished Visiting Fellowship awards are only accepted from the host organisation in the United Kingdom. The application pack consists of the following documents:

Application Form

Please read the application guidance carefully before completing the application form.

Diversity Monitoring Forms

The diversity monitoring forms for the UK host (‘Nominator’ on the monitoring form) and Distinguished Visitor (‘Applicant’ on the monitoring form) should be submitted as separate pdf files. These forms are an optional addition to the application. The data provided will be used for monitoring purposes only and will form no part of the scheme’s selection procedure.

Incomplete applications will not be processed.

Eligibility

All engineering departments in the UK Higher Education institutions are eligible to apply. Whilst the Fellowships are intended to favour aspects of engineering and technology, the assessment panel will also give sympathetic consideration to proposals from related disciplines (e.g. within the generality of ICT and materials) where a convincing case for support is made. Applications from commercial centres of excellence are not accepted.

Applications with visitors from overseas academic centres of excellence in engineering (including those from governmental research organisations) are accepted. Visitors from commercial centres of excellence are not eligible for this scheme.

Deadline for Applications

There are two rounds of applications each year. The deadline for the submission of the first round of applications is 12 June 2013. The deadline for the second round of applications will be the end of November.

For further information, please contact Catherine Lawrence.

If you work in a 'Research Grants Office' or equivalent, and so aid your colleagues in applying to such schemes, please email research info to be added to a mailing list so we can update you directly when core rules change and new Calls for applications are announced.
