The Major Projects Award
The Royal Academy of
Engineering Major Projects Award (formerly the
Special Achievement Award) recognises the
contribution of an engineer who has led or played a
critical role in a major engineering project that
has substantial impact on society.
The call for nominations for the
2013 award has now closed. The winner(s) will be
announced in 2013.

Sir John Armitt CBE FREng
Chairman of the Olympic Delivery Authority
Recognising Sir John for
delivering one of the most prestigious projects for
the UK in recent times, transforming an area of East
London waste land into the hub of the 2012 Olympic
and Paralympic Games. He has delivered this
exceptional project on time and to budget,
overcoming many challenges while under intense
scrutiny from the rest of the world.

Stephen Payne OBE RDI FREng
Awarded in recognition of his achievements in
designing and project managing the construction of
the super liner Queen Mary 2.
