The Academy awards a number of medals each year in recognition of excellence in engineering.

Prince Philip Medal
Awarded biennially to an engineer of any nationality who has made an exceptional contribution to engineering as a whole through practice, management or education.

President's Medal
This is awarded, biennially, to an organisation or individual, that has contributed significantly to the Academy's aims and work through 'initiative in promoting excellence in engineering'.

Sir Frank Whittle Medal
The Medal is awarded to an engineer, normally resident in the UK, for outstanding and sustained achievement which has contributed to the well-being of the nation.
The field of activity changes annually. In 2012 the medal will be awarded for Engineering Innovations in Sports Performance Engineering focusing on specialist equipment manufacture and instrumentation, and performance analysis.

International Medal
The International Medal is awarded occasionally
to an individual, resident outside of the
European Union, for his or her outstanding and
sustained personal achievement in the broad
field of engineering, including commercial or
academic leadership or for specific products
and/or projects.

Silver Medal
The Silver Medal was established in 1994 to recognise an outstanding and demonstrated personal contribution to British engineering, which is resulting in successful market exploitation, by an engineer working in the United Kingdom, with less than 22 years in full time employment or equivalent on 1 January in year of award and who will normally be Chartered.

The Rooke Medal for the Public Promotion of Engineering
Awarded to an individual, small team or
organisation who has contributed to the
Academy's aims and work through their initiative
in promoting engineering to the public.
