In December 2014, Professor Dame Ann Dowling OM DBE FREng FRS, President of the Royal Academy of Engineering, was asked by the then Minister for Universities, Science and Cities, Rt Hon Greg Clark MP, to lead a review examining how government can support the development of more effective collaborations between businesses and university researchers in the UK.

Dame Ann's Review of Business-University Collaborations was published in July 2015. The government published its response in December 2016.
