Engineering fringe meeting at Labour's conference tonight
Shadow Industry Minister Pat McFadden joins the Engineering the future alliance tonight for a fringe meeting at the Labour party conference in Manchester with the Social Market Foundation, looking at the changing nature of the UK economy and what should replace financial services in driving economic growth.
The meeting will look at issues including:
- What is the right role for government in developing the industries of the future?
- What tools should government use to stimulate the green industry?
- Is the government's skills strategy the right one to ensure we have the human capital for the jobs of the future?
- How can we ensure that modern Britain has the skills and competencies to make the UK a world leader in engineering again?
