Reception in honour of The Royal Academy of Engineering

On 19 November business executives, engineers, artists and politicians gathered at the Academy for a reception hosted by Lord Browne, Sir John Parker FREng and Lady Barbara Judge. The Academy was pleased to welcome The Rt Hon Michael Howard MP, Sir Stuart Rose, Sir Martin Sorrell and many other distinguished guests. The Academy would like to thank all those who attended and thank Lloyd's Register for sponsoring the event.

Lord Browne and Sir John Parker spoke about promoting engineering to a wider society, while Lady Judge stressed the need for more women to enter the profession.

The reception saw the unveiling of three portraits of famous engineers - Leonardo Da Vinci, Isambard Kingdom Brunel and Sir Frank Whittle - kindly gifted to the Academy by noted Welsh artist Andrew Vicari.

Limited edition lithographs of the three portraits were offered for a suggested donation, with all proceeds going towards the Academy's project to create a forum for engineering in its 3 Carlton House Terrace home.

Anyone wishing to obtain an unframed lithograph (76cm x 58cm) should contact Nadia Azzouzi at the Academy on 0207 766 0657. Lithographs are available for a suggested donation of £1000 each, or £2500 for all three. The Royal Academy of Engineering is a registered charity (No. 293074)

The lithographs are limited to 100 copies.
