Five PhD students have won the Academy’s prestigious new Research Student Development Awards. Michael Aspinall, Frances Baxter, Bryony Davidson, Bryan Horton and Iain Roberts will each receive a £5,000 grant for personal development projects. Their projects cover a range of innovations including a new wave power system, a different way of detecting concealed explosives, developing the mechanics of a bobsleigh, scanning live mouse egg-cells and developing new bone replacement materials.
