Global Grand Challenges short film competition 2013

Short Film Competition 2013

The Film Competition is now closed

The Global Grand Challenges Summit is a major new initiative by the national academies of engineering in the UK, the US and China. The summit brings together leading international thinkers and innovators to explore new approaches to solving some of the most pressing challenges of the 21st century, on themes ranging from resilience to healthcare; from driving growth and employment to protecting our planet.

In conjunction with the Global Grand Challenges Summit, each of the academies held a short film competition for entrants 18-27 years old in the UK, the US, and China.

This competition called for creative entrants to produce a film no longer than two minutes, highlighting the importance of engineering, and how engineers can tackle global challenges in any one of the following areas underlined at the summit: Sustainability, Enriching Life, Growth, Resilience, Health.

The competition was open to short films of all production techniques, including drama, animation, documentary, experimental or artist film and hybrid work.

The winner of the UK competition will receive a prize of 5,000 and will be presented with their prize at a special ceremony during the Global Grand Challenges Summit in London, UK on 12 and 13 March 2013.
