Engineers Against Poverty charity cycle challenge

Day 8 - 5 March 2010

Siem Reap - Beng Mealea

Although the challenge is titled Saigon to Angkor Wat, the final day's cycling actually took us out to Beng Mealea. We woke up very early this morning to catch the sunrise at the temples of Ta Prohm.

In Ta Prohm, the trees have taken over some of the ruins which give these temples a unique appearance.

Picture of cycling through the dust

All the previous days cycling had caught up with us and with this being the final day, it turned out to be the toughest yet. The majority of today's cycling was off the tarmac and over pot hole ridden dust tracks mainly consisting up of red sand and gravel.

After cycling over 500 kilometres during eight very long and hot days, we finally finished!
