The biennial prize will be awarded to an individual, based in the UK, for excellence in materials engineering demonstrated by the successful application of novel materials science and technology in practical engineering systems.
A cash prize of £2,000 is made to the winner. The next award will be presented in 2017.
The prize was established with kind support from the Worshipful Company of Armourers and Brasiers.
Nominations are now closed for 2017 award. The winner will be announced later on this year.
The winner of the inaugural 2015 award was presented to Professor Judith Driscoll from the University of Cambridge.
The inaugural Royal Academy of Engineering Armourers and Brasiers Company Prize has been awarded to Professor Judith Driscoll, Professor of Materials Science at the University of Cambridge. Her research has revolutionised the properties of high temperature superconductors, enabling them to carry much higher currents in a magnetic field.
