Joint annual lecture with the Royal Society of Edinburgh
04 March 2013
Ian Stevens has been fortunate to be associated with the development of 3 disruptive and leading healthcare technologies over the last 14 years; firstly the Optomap retinal scan from Optos, then Smartmesh for pelvic floor restoration from Mpathy Medical, and most recently the I-limb multi-articulating prosthetic hand from Touch Bionics. In this year's lecture he will explore how these inventions were brought to market, describing some of the challenges overcome and discussing how the products evolved to meet the needs of their users. This is a joint annual lecture with The Royal Society of Edinburgh to promote research in engineering. Entry to the lecture is free, but you must register online with the RSE:
