Dear Sir, Madam,
By kind permission of the Vice-Chancellor of the University of Leeds, Professor Michael Arthur, the 2009 Regional Public Lecture and Dinner will take place on the evening of Monday, 16th March next, at Leeds University commencing at 6 pm.
The lecture will be given by Professor Brian Launder FREng FRS of the School of Mechanical, Aerospace and Civil Engineering at the University of Manchester. Brian Launder's lecture will be entitled "Engineering Climate Stabilization - Some Geo-Scale Routes". It will be given at 6pm in the Yorkshire Bank Lecture Theatre in the Leeds Business School on Clarendon Road. The lecture will be followed by a reception hosted by the Vice-Chancellor.
To complete the evening there will be our usual enjoyable informal Spring Dinner for Fellows and their guests. This will be at 7.45pm in the Great Woodhouse Room in University House and it will also be chaired by the Vice-Chancellor. It is intended that proceedings will be over by 9.45pm to allow people to catch trains.
When this event was held at Leeds three years ago, there was a good attendance from across the region and particularly from the Universities of Manchester, Sheffield and York. We hope that this tradition will continue and that some will come from further afield. Fellows may each bring a guest to the dinner and, as usual, spouses are welcome. The charge for the dinner is £35 per head. The "dress code" is lounge suit.
We do hope that you will be able to join us.
I look forward to hearing from you.
