A Meeting for Fellows and Special Guests

The Royal Academy of Engineering recognises that China is an important and growing force in the global economy. Industries and sectors dependent upon engineering are major contributors to this growth. This meeting seeks to draw on the Fellowship's expertise and corporate knowledge to underpin a developing strategy which would form the basis for our future relations with China. Such a strategy would aim to benefit the UK economically and contribute to raising the UK's innovation performance.

The Speakers will relate their own personal experiences of working in China and assess the potential benefits as well as the cultural and political barriers in a variety of industrial sectors and academia. They will be followed by an open and frank debate on all relevant issues including Intellectual Property Rights, standardisation, education, R&D and joint ventures.
