16 February 2006 The Economics and Morality of Safety: a seminar
Saving Costs: Saving Lives
Chairman: John Turnbull FREng, Leader, Risk Project
4.30pm - 7pm at Mary Sumner House, Conference Hall, 24 Tufton St, London, SW1P 3RB
Please note change of venue: Conference Hall at Mary Sumner House, 24 Tufton St, London, SW1P 3RB.
This seminar, as part of the Academy's programme on risk, will examine the issues faced by many different sectors in deciding how much to spend on the safety of a product, process or system. Is there an absolute moral obligation on designers and operators to improve safety whatever the cost, or is it simply a question of economic calculation?
These and other related issues will be explored in the seminar.
