The Rank Prize Fund
The Funds
were established under the will of the late
Lord Rank to foster the sciences of
Optoelectronics and Nutrition. They award
substantial prizes and organise symposia
where talented students interact with
international authorities. A more recent
initiative is the Optoelectronics College,
which trains teachers in optoelectronics and
provides experimental kits, with the aim of
persuading more pupils to embrace science.

bring together the country’s most eminent engineers
from all disciplines to promote excellence in the
science, art and practice of engineering. Our
strategic priorities are to enhance the UK’s
engineering capabilities, to celebrate excellence
and inspire the next generation, and to lead debate
by guiding informed thinking and influencing public
policy.
The Royal Society is a Fellowship of the world's

advancement of science and its use for the benefit
of humanity and the good of the planet. As the UK's
academy of science we support many young scientists,
engineers and technologists, influence science
policy, debate scientific issues and much more.
