Ove Arup Foundation/Royal Academy of Engineering Visiting Teaching Fellows

This particular Visiting Teaching Fellows scheme is focused on enriching the the teaching curriculum in all aspects of engineering design with particular reference to:

  • Sustainable Development

  • Systems

  • Innovation

  • Built Environment

  • Building Engineering Physics

As with our other schemes, Visiting Teaching Fellows are selected on the basis of being on the fast track in their respective areas of technical expertise and the ambitious nature of the programme their host university wishes them to undertake.

Apart from teaching, Visiting Teaching Fellows are also involved in supervising practical and project work and mentoring students. They are also expected to deliver two careers’ focused presentations during the course of their appointment. Each appointment is for a period of two years.

Alex Lofting, Senior Engineer, Arup at the University of Bristol

Kate McDougall, Senior Structural Engineer, Arup at the University of Manchester

Paul Perry, Principal Engineer, Halcrow Group Ltd at the University of Nottingham

Katherine Symons, Senior Project Engineer, Ramboll UK at the University of Cambridge

Joanna Wood, Head of Systems Engineering, UK Systems at UCL

John Young, Managing Director, Edenvale Young Associates at the University of Bath
