Visiting Professors' Scheme The Royal Academy of Engineering Student Design Poster Competition 2008 This year’s engineering design poster competition took place at the UK’s leading engineering education design conference Engineering Education 2008 (EE2008) at Loughborough University on 15 July.
Thirty-one universities took part in the competition submitting a total of 48 posters, which were judged by a panel of Academy Fellows and Visiting Professors. The judges awarded prizes for the best entries in the categories of Sustainable Development, Integrated Systems, Innovation and for the best project overall. The high quality of this year’s submissions resulted in an extremely difficult task for the judges and after a prolonged moderating session awarded this year’s prizes to: Overall Best Project - Prize of £2,000 ‘Retract – A – Seat’: Queen’s University Belfast Robert Best Best Sustainable Development Project - Prize of £750 ‘Institute of Education (IoE) Library/Office Extension’: University of Bristol Fiona Deas Best Integrated System Project - Prize of £750 ‘Sea Rescue Device’ – Queen’s University Belfast Gareth Armstrong Most Innovative Project - Prize of £750 ‘Intelligence Weight Training Safety Device’ – University of Bath Tim Antos Congratulations to all of this year’s winners and thanks to everyone who entered and submitted a poster to the competition.
