Schemes for Undergraduates

  • Engineering Leadership Advanced Awards Scheme for Undergraduates (formerly Engineering Leadership Awards), Best Programme

A programme to provide support and motivation to some of the most exceptional engineering undergraduates in UK universities.

The objective of these Awards is to allow ambitious, inspiring engineering undergraduates, those who want to become leadership role models for the next generation of engineers, to undertake an accelerated personal development programme. They will get the opportunity to acquire the skills needed to fulfil their potential, moving into an engineering leadership position soon after graduation.

The Awards provide motivation and mentoring support for some of the most exceptional engineering undergraduates in UK universities. Awards worth up to £5,000 per student are made to provide MEng students, over three years, with carefully planned training and experience, which would otherwise have been unavailable to them.

  • Engineering Leadership Standard Awards Scheme for Undergraduates (formerly the Undergraduate Programme), Best Programme

This programme is designed to encourage UK engineering undergraduates to further develop their skills and their interest in engineering as a career through a series of activities. In addition to the standard courses, new and exciting opportunities have been added in 2009, as follows:

    • Personal Development Courses - WILD1 and WILD2

    • EWB/RAEng International Development Workshop

    • Negotiation Skills

    • Public Engagement

    • NCGE/RAEng Flying Start Rally: Entrepreneurship

    • RedR/RAEng course: “So you think you want to be a Relief Worker”

    • Renewable Energy Technologies Course

    • Assistance with accommodation and/or travel costs to enable summer work placements or internships with engineering companies away from home.

The programme is open to engineering undergraduates who have participated in one or more of the Best Programme schemes. Students are automatically issued an invitation to register at the beginning of their BEng or MEng degree. For the first time, this scheme is also now open to engineering undergraduates who are UK nationals studying for a degree in the UK. Registration will be open on this website from August to October 2009 for activities in 2010.
