Petrofac/Royal Academy of Engineering Fellowships for the Enhanced Graduate Engineer
Introduction
The 21st century has already
seen many changes to the industrial marketplace. One
of the most significant is the technology enrichment
that has taken place whereby companies have found it
necessary to enhance the knowledge of their graduate
(and other) engineers with further education and
training to enable them to take on the specialist
roles which are crucial to their commercial and
business success.
Petrofac has joined forces with the Academy to take forward
the concept of the Enhanced Graduate Engineer; to
provide an exceptional opportunity for graduate
engineers wishing to pursue a technically specialist
role in the oil and gas industry, whilst at the same
time addressing the need for additional highly
skilled engineers generally.
The Scheme
The Enhanced Graduate
Engineer is achieved through a combination of an
appropriate full-time Masters’ level second degree
education coupled with additional learning and
development opportunities provided by Petrofac,
including where possible a company sourced major
project, a mentor and work placement. In certain
cases the company may offer post-graduation
employment. All Fellows will be expected to attend a
Petrofac familiarisation visit.
Entry to the scheme is through
a two-stage competitive process involving an
application form and personal interview for those
shortlisted. Those fortunate to be selected will be
awarded a Fellowship of £9,000 and be entitled to
call themselves a ‘Petrofac Royal Academy of
Engineering Fellow’. The work of the Fellows will be
exhibited in the Academy in London at the end of
their Masters’ course, through a poster display of
their major project work.

The scheme is focused on high
calibre graduate engineers who are interested in
