Schemes for Professional Engineers

  • Sainsbury Management Fellowships (Best)

    Aimed at high-flying chartered engineers, the award covers the cost of course fees for MBA courses at selected international business schools. Award holders usually go on to become senior managers and leaders in UK industry. Applications may be made either in conjunction with an employer, or by an individual acting independently.

  • Engineering Professional Development Awards

    These awards offer financial assistance to companies towards the cost of appropriate development programmes linked to their business plans. Companies choose the activities to be supported – activities include short courses in management or new technology, training to deal with the implementation of new legislation or technical foreign language training.

  • Panasonic Trust

    • Panasonic Trust Awards

      The Panasonic Trust provides grants to help engineers undertake courses to update and retrain in new developments and technologies. Those wishing to enrol on part-time modular Masters courses usually have priority. The normal grant is 50% of the course fees up to a maximum of £1000. Applicants must belong to an engineering institution and should have been working at a professional level in engineering in the UK for at least three years. Support from the applicant's employer is required.

    • Panasonic Trust Fellowships

      These Fellowships are aimed at recent graduates who wish to take a full-time Masters degree course in environmental studies or sustainable development. The Fellowship, currently worth £7000, covers the costs of studying on an associated course at a UK university. Applicants must have a degree in engineering or allied subject, belong to an engineering institution and have at least 12 months’ industrial experience.

  • Sir Angus Paton Bursary

    A scholarship available to suitably qualified engineers who enrol on a full-time Masters course related to the environment, at selected universities.

  • Sir Henry Royce Bursary

    Bursaries are available for suitably qualified engineers to undertake part-time modular Masters courses related to automotive engineering. Each bursary is worth £1000 and covers study in the first year only, but awardees can apply for other sources of Academy funding to complete their studies.

  • Executive Engineers Programme (Best)

    The objective of this programme is to develop a challenging curriculum for enhanced and accelerated professional development to chartered engineer status. It is designed for highly motivated, entrepreneurial and innovative engineering graduates.
