Basic Hands on Mechanical Principles CPD Event

The Academy is pleased to announce another free CPD
event for college lecturers on the subject of basic
hands on mechanical principles. The event will be
hosted by GKN Aerospace at their facilities in
Filton, Bristol. This session was developed after
speaking with lecturers who stated “we need
simple, inexpensive practical activities that help
us to get across scientific mechanical principles”.
The aim of the event is to engage with simple
practical mechanical principles activities to create
a better learning experience for students.
By attending this event, lecturers will:

Explore a range of
activities for teaching engineering through
hands-on learning

Share with other
practitioners their practical approaches to
teaching mechanical principles
-
Be able to plan to use
such activities to enhance the learning
experience for students.
If you sign up to the event
you will be expected to bring at least one practical
hands-on idea that you have implemented to get
across a scientific principle that you will share
with the group.
There will also be a
presentation by a representative of GKN Aerospace
which will give an insight into a modern engineering
and technology company as well as a tour.
The CPD event is free
to attend and lecturers will receive free of
charge some kit to take back and use in the
classroom.
The Academy will also
contribute up to £50.00 towards travel costs.
These events are very popular
and places fill up fast. Only 25 places are
available for this event so book early to avoid
disappointment. Once you have registered further
information will be sent.
Even though these events are
free to attend, unfortunately we have been forced to
implement a charge for those people who register and
then either fail to attend on the day or
subsequently withdraw with less than 7 days’ notice.
This charge is to cover our administration and
catering costs. You will be asked for your line
manager’s name when you register and an invoice for
£50 will be sent to them if you fail to attend or
withdraw within 7 days of the event.
