Engineering Further Education (EFE)

Ementoring

Bright Links Engineering ementoring gives students the support they need to make those though decisions about their future. By putting them in direct contact with people currently working in engineering related jobs and a database full of information students will find answers to questions like:

  • What types of jobs could studying engineering lead to?

  • Should I get a job or do further study?

  • What are my study options?

  • How do I get an apprenticeship?

  • What are my career options?

  • How much could I earn?

Bright Links Engineering ementoring is free and is open to students studying engineering courses at English Level 2 & 3 or Scottish Level 5 & 6 in general further education colleges.

How does it work?

As a Bright Links engineering mentee, students will get:

  • Their own personal online mentor; an engineer from industry who can provide encouragement and support throughout their engineering FE studies and can offer guidance on further training and employment opportunities that their studies could lead to;

  • Access to a wide range of information and videos about careers, money, student finance etc;

  • A programme of activities to develop valuable life skills around study, careers, money management and confidence building;

  • Access to an online database of over 500 resources to support their studies.

To date nearly 100 mentors have registered for the programme and are trained and ready to support students. All mentors are registered STEM Ambassadors and have current enhanced CRB clearance.
