He is now Director and Chief Executive of the Francis Crick Institute, the UK Centre for Medical Research and Innovation, and is also a Trustee of the Queen Elizabeth Prize for Engineering.

Sir Paul Nurse became President of the Royal Society in 2010; the
culmination of a stellar career in medical science. As a geneticist, his research has focused
on problems in molecular biology, particularly the study of what controls the division and
shape of cells, for which he has received many of the highest awards in science, including
the Nobel Prize in 2001 with Leland Hartwell and Tim Hunt. He has been Professor of Microbiology
at Oxford University, Director General of the Imperial Cancer Research Fund, Chief Executive of
Cancer Research UK and President of Rockefeller University, New York.|
