Building Research Establishment and Royal Academy of Engineering Visiting Professor of Building
Engineering Physics, University of Bath
Engineer, physicist and environmentalist Doug King is recognised for his
dedication to integrated engineering design for high performance buildings and his career-long
commitment to sustainable design. A recognised leader in the area, he has contributed to a
range of ground-breaking buildings, including the new Rolls-Royce factory, the Genzyme Centre
in Boston, at the time the largest LEED Platinum building in the world and the Innovate Green
Office, which achieved the highest BREEAM score ever. Doug King has made significant
contributions to developing the field and an outstanding effort to spread the ideas through
teaching and writing. A number of awards including a Royal Academy of Engineering Silver medal
are tribute to his commitment.
