Peter Fitzgerald is the founder of Randox Laboratories, a major player
in the field of diagnostics and biotechnology and winner of the 2003 Royal Academy of Engineering
MacRobert Award for innovation in engineering. Currently celebrating its 30th year, Randox has
grown from a start up to a 750-person company, ranked 23rd in the world out of over 1600
companies in the in vitro diagnostics market, and is now the UK’s biggest biotechnology
company. Peter is eminent for his innovations and inventions in the field of biotechnology with
21 US patents and 23 pending. Randox developed the world’s first biochip array technology
– a multiplexing diagnostic platform technology which can deliver up to 23 different test
results simultaneously from an individual biochip using a single, small patient sample.
