The Academy's Public Engagement Grants Programme
Ingenious
engaging citizens; engaging engineers
Round 1: 06/07
There are two levels of funding available: the
larger Activities and Development awards and the smaller Individual awards.
Activities and Development grants (£4,000 to £40,000)
Grants available to science
and engineering communicators, engineering
institutions, think-tanks, arts organisations,
Continuing Professional Development providers,
educational organisations and universities. Joint
applications from two or more organisations are
welcome. All projects must focus on engaging the
public with engineering and/or raising engineers'
awareness of public
engagement practice and theory. Funds are available
for:
Activity projects that raise public debate
on the science, art, practice and impact of
engineering
Development projects that design and deliver
bespoke public engagement training courses,
seminars and workshops for engineers

Individual grants (up to £2,000)
Grants available to engineers
from higher education institutes or industry to
attend training courses, workshops, seminars or
conferences that relate directly to: public
engagement (including communications and media
training); public policy; or science and engineering
in society (eg risk, ethics or philosophy).
