The Academy's Public Engagement Grants Programme
Ingenious evaluation toolkit
This online toolkit provides
Ingenious grant holders with some resources to help
evaluate their projects and share good practice. The
toolkit contains a brief and accessible guide to
evaluating an Ingenious project, example
questionnaires, a ‘bookshelf’ to download other
relevant resources and the Ingenious ‘Final Project
Report Form’.
This is an evolving toolkit
that will be updated regularly by additions from the
grant holders themselves – by providing examples of
good practice (eg a questionnaire or other
instrument that worked well) in addition to case
studies and stories of successes and lessons learnt.

grant holders need to know to evaluate their
Ingenious projects.

Example questionnaires
Two basic questionnaires have
been put together that give examples of how to
collect information from two different audiences.
One questionnaire is intended for use with
engineers, who are the most important audience for
Ingenious projects. An example questionnaire is also
provided for public audiences. The questionnaires
are in MS Word format so that grant holders are able
to tailor them to suit particular needs (for
example, by adding more questions to collect
specific information relevant to the project).

Data entry templates are also
provided in the form of MS Excel spreadsheets to
enter the data collected using the example
questionnaires.

Evaluation Surgeries
Evaluation surgeries take
place each year, following the announcement of each
round of awards, to provide support to grant holders
and those involved in the development, delivery and
evaluation of Ingenious projects. The surgeries
provide the opportunity for the attendees to receive
bespoke advice and to share ideas with others.
