UK Resource Centre (UKRC) for women in SET
The Academy works closely with
the UKRC, who provide information and advisory
services to industry, academia, professional
institutions, education and Research Councils within
SET professions, whilst supporting women entering
and progressing SET careers.
Through vehicles such as the
CEO Charter and the
SET Fair Standard, the UKRC supports
organisations in their journey towards gender
equality. The UKRC also runs the
WISE Campaign, which encourages and supports
girls to stick with maths and physics, and consider
careers in the areas of science, engineering and
construction.
As part of the
Ingenious Grants programme, the Academy funded
the UKRC’s Ingenious Women project. Over several
months, 19 female engineers from a variety of
backgrounds and domains were given intensive media
training and mentoring to equip them to become
enthusiastic and articulate ambassadors and role
models for engineering. The project covered
traditional print media as well as radio, television
and new social media outlets such as blogs and
Twitter.
