The Forum for Engineering Project at 3 Carlton House Terrace

Building works commenced on 25 July 2011 after many months of preparation by the design team and substantial fund-raising. The £6.5m project will refurbish the public areas of The Royal Academy of Engineering’s Grade 1 listed premises at 3 Carlton House Terrace (3CHT), and create a Forum for Engineering. The project is scheduled for completion in May 2012.

Dr Paul Golby FREng is Chairman of the 3CHT Project Committee and he is supported by other Fellows with expertise in all the relevant fields. The Committee has supervised the various stages of the project from preparation to current execution and gives support to the project steering group.

The design team includes: architect, Stefanie Fischer, Burrell Foley Fischer, project manager, Stuart Johnson and contractor, Knight Harwood.

The Academy will use its new forum to bring the engineering community closer together and to celebrate engineering in all its myriad forms. Events will highlight the integrated and innovative solutions often required to address engineering challenges as well as providing extensive opportunities for networking, inspiration, and expert knowledge. Activities in the Forum will help fulfil the Academy’s overarching objective of moving engineering to the heart of society.

For more information on the Forum and its aims please visit the Creating a Forum for Engineering page on the Development Campaign section of the website.
