Professor William Jones FREng
Professor of Combustion and previously Head of Thermofluids Division, Imperial College London

Professor Jones plays a leading role in developing models of turbulence and combustion and evaluating their accuracy. He is internationally renowned for his innovative contribution to the computation of combustion in turbulent flows, particularly in gas turbine combustion chambers. Over many years, he has contributed to the industry’s ability to calculate important features such as emission levels and turbine entry temperature profiles. Recently, he has pioneered the novel computational approach of large eddy simulation for turbulent combustion and his method has been adopted by two large gas turbine manufacturers.
